Greening
Mission
The mission of the Kensington South
Greening Committee is to promote
the continued greening and
improvement of the Kensington
South community.
Activities include but are not limited
to:
Building a broad base of support for
and participation in a wide range of
greening activities that cut across
the entire neighborhood. Promoting
and supporting our community
gardens. Promoting and supporting
our parks. Identifying and screening
sites for the planting of new street
trees and encouraging street
planting where appropriate.

In 2009, KS Tree Tenders, along with friends and
neighborhood volunteers, planted more than 100
trees throughout the neighborhood. Most were bare
root trees planted on a too hot day in April and again
on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. As they mature,
these trees will provide the community with many
years of beauty, as well as health and economic
benefits. KS Tree Tenders are committed to caring for
our neighborhood’s trees and working to increase the
local tree canopy.
Plans are underway for future plantings. If you would
like to see trees planted on your block or would like to
participate, please contact 215-370-0099 or
