PARKS

The Friends of Hart Park had a very productive 2010. In March, FOH selected by
the Community Design Collaborative for a service grant that allowed the
community to work with landscape designers to begin thinking about a
conceptual redesign of the park and playground. With the support of Parks
Revitalization and Councilman Clarke's office, The Neighborhood Picnic Potluck
series returned with music by Los Malitos and The Spice Route, alternative Latin
and Middle Eastern bands respectively (sadly, FOHP fav the Jeffhouse band was
rained out). The first of a long talked about movie night, something the group
would like to see more of in 2011, came together in October.   From
"LOVE Your Park" in the Spring and continuing throughout the
Summer, neighbors really stepped up their efforts in maintaining the park and it
looked better than ever all season long.In November, in recognition of these
efforts, Hart Park was awarded a grant from the William Penn Foundation and
Philadelphia Green called Inspiring Transformation, for funds and assistance
from PHS that can be used to begin improving and transforming the park into a
greener and more inviting place.
